The mission of the Image of the Journalist in Popular Culture project is to investigate and analyze, through research and publication, the conflicting images of the journalist in film, television, radio, fiction, commercials, cartoons, comic books, video games, music, art and other aspects of popular culture demonstrating their impact on the American public’s perception of newsgatherers. Founded in 2000, the project is directed by Joe Saltzman, professor of journalism at the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism.
